The Marijuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR) in Canada has come up with rules. Now what are these rules and what is the motive behind it? Marijuana testing is an ever-going process. Canada, now wants to make legal marijuana use. The primary reason for the same is to help the ill patients to be able to use marijuana as a medical aid.

Marijuana testing on various diseases has proved its effectiveness. This has also increased marijuana growing in many parts of the world and it is now seen as a potential medicine. Under the new rules set by the Canadian Health Care System, it will allow individuals to “use, cultivate, and/or store marijuana for medical purposes”. This means any person can be involved in marijuana growing for medical reasons.

These regulations come after the Ontario Court of Appeals ruling in 2000 that gave an authority to the Government of Canada to form new rules taking into consideration the legalization of marijuana. The courts had given a year’s time for the government and accordingly by 2001 the rules were enforced.

However, one thing is of grave importance in this regulation. The legalization does not mean that any entity can behave indiscriminately with marijuana – physically. Those who want to get associated with marijuana – be it marijuana growing or possessing even for medical purposes have to get a valid license from the Government of Canada. This still remains illegal for everyone, if they are found breaking these rules.

The regulation of marijuana was the prime objective of MMAR. Under these rules the growers of marijuana need to take permission before setting off to work. It can be made possible through an application to the Canadian government. Those who have sought the rightful permission to grow marijuana, does not mean that they have to consume it too. Therefore, the growers are free to use it, but within limits.
